• 5 Ways To Get Some Mommy Alone Time

Idea #1:  Keep them Active – I enrolled my kids in theafter-school program which have fun activities such as sports, crafts and they also help with the homework. I trust the after-school program and there is no stressing out if my kids are safe. I actually am able to take a few hours of “alone” time during the week.

Idea #2: Teaming up – Try to team up with your neighbor or another parent from the school that has similarities as you. Make a schedule to have play-dates with your kids and their friends. Take turns having the friends come to your home and the next week at their home. This enables fun time for the kids, a break for you, a break for the other mom and who knows, you may have found a new best friend.

Idea #3: Plan a family vacation – Everyone wins here! I wanted to go on a mini vacation without the family so I could have “alone” time but felt guilty. I started searching mini family vacations and found some great ideas. After searching,  I planned a family vacation at a “kid” friendly resort that had several daily activities to keep them busy as well as spa time and other wonderful things for me to do without the kids. It was so fun and relaxing that I scheduled another mini vacation for us all to go again!

Idea #4: Get up earlier – Though I love to sleep in and constantly hit the alarm when it sounds, I started to get up an hour earlier everyday. Crazy right? No, not at all because with me having that extra hour I am able to do things that normally I can't do such as soak in the bathtub, style my hair differently, read a few chapters in my book, make personal phone calls (that is rare) and just breathe without the fuss of the kids.

Idea #5: Try a new hobby – Find something that peaks your interest whether it is  a craft project, going to the gym, bike riding, having weekly coffee with a  good friend, or music lessons. Have your husband or a sitter watch the kids once a week for an hour or two so that you can achieve “alone” time and do something for yourself. I took up painting and was amazed at my new found talent.

These are just a few ideas that worked for me. Tell me some of your ideas.
