• 10 Things I Do After I Put the Kids To Bed

Bedtime is easily one of the best times of the day for me. I get the kids snug in their beds and then I have a good hour to tie up loose ends around the house and squeeze in some “me” time. A Mother's job is never done, not even when the kids are asleep! Here's a list of 10 things I do after the kids are in bed. What do you do after bedtime?

    1. Finish cleaning up after dinner.

After dinner there's bath time, story time and snuggle time. No time in there to clean the kitchen. Disappointingly, I don't think those dishes are leaving anytime soon. After bedtime it is!

    2. Do a load of laundry.

My daughters are out of socks and my son needs his baseball jersey washed. Doing laundry is loads of fun at 8pm!
    Who's with me?

    3. Make school lunches.

I'd much rather take 10 minutes at night than rush around in the morning for this chore. BUT, anyone who knows me, knows that I absolutely despise this post bedtime ritual. I don't know why, I just do!

    4. Eat cookies. (not EVERY night…)

I argue with the kids about why they can't eat any before bed, but as the saying goes, “Do as I say, not as I do.” Hey, don't judge me. You know you're eating cookies in the dark too!

    5. Log into my bank account.

With barely there spare time during the day, I must find a moment to keep my finances straight. Don't want to be bouncing any checks to the PTA. Thank goodness for online banking!

    6. Pick up the living room.

Something I do several times a day. What's one more? At least I can wake up to a decent looking living area and enjoy it for a minute. Maaaybe drink my coffee amongst a toy free couch.

    7. Text back and forth with my bff.

No Mom has time for an in depth conversation with their best friend while children are awake. I rarely have time for an actual speaking conversation even after the kids are in bed! I find texting to be a great way to catch up in between the night-time laundry and dishes.

    8. Have uninterrupted conversation with my hubby.

I can't actually recall what we talk about, but who cares?! It's just nice not being distracted by, “Mom….Mom….Mom….”

    9. Catch up on my FB and Instagram.

Ah yes!- sweet, mindless indulging of social media! I love it, and it feels so good to get my fix after a hard days work!

    10. Take a shower.

The last thing I usually do before hitting the pillow is take a long, hot shower. Another way to save on time in the a.m. and a great way to relax and unwind.
