• Wishing it Away 

    It hasn't even been a year yet and I've already caught myself doing it on more than one occasion. It’s definitely not intentional. It just sort of happens. I'll be thinking a completely random thought and then I catch myself saying something along the lines of “I can't wait until he can crawl” or “I can't wait until he'll play by himself for a little while.” It's not that I want him to grow up any faster – actually, quite the opposite. I just sometimes think it might be easier if [fill in the blank with a developmental milestone of your choice]. 

    I'm sure, at least to some degree, we all do it – we all keep wishing it away. It’s actually kind of ironic because, for the most part, I spend my days wanting to slow time down and wishing that I had a pause button.
