Happy National Doughnut Day-Sweetest Day Of The Year

Who doesn't love a good excuse to indulge in a crispy, creamy glazed, powdered or chocolatey sprinkled donut?!  Well that's not all this day is about. Did you know National Doughnut Day is on the first Friday of June each year? This special event was created on June 7, 1938 by The Salvation Army to honor men and women who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I.

To celebrate National Doughnut Day 2014, many eateries are handing out free doughnuts. Krispy Kreme  is giving away a free doughnut to every customer (no purchase necessary), while Dunkin’ Donuts customers will receive a free doughnut with any beverage purchase.
