• 6 Things I Should Be Doing When the Baby Is Sleeping

    1. Take a nap – You know you want to. You feel guilty actually doing it, but wouldn’t it be oh-so-amazing to let your exhausted body just collapse into your bed and take a nice, long nap? Heck, maybe you could even catch a few uninterrupted hours before your little one decides it’s time to crash the party.

    2. Do the laundry – There, I said it. There are clean clothes in the basket in the hallway as well as the dryer. There are dirty clothes scattered all over the place – on both bedroom floors, on the back of the couch, and of course on the laundry room floor. It seems so simple – take 5 minutes and throw a load in the washer, but it always ends up being so much more complicated than that. First, you have to sort everything – yea, definitely nowhere near as easy as it sounds…

    3. Make dinner – I’ll bet my husband would be all for that, but it sounds like a lot of work for very little return. I mean, seriously – think about it. Besides, there are plenty of left-overs in the fridge. Help yourself. The last time I checked, this wasn’t a restaurant.

    4. Take a shower – Warm, running water… Need I say more? And really, while we’re on the subject, who knows when the last time you actually got to take a shower was. If you have taken a shower recently, how’d that work out for you? Five minutes – in and out?

    5. Do the dishes – The sink is calling my name – it has been for days now. Can I pretend I don’t hear it? I’ll be sure to get right on that. You know, because the row of bottles lined up neatly on the counter aren’t motivation enough. It’s going to take a swift kick in the you-know-what to get moving on it.

    6. Run the vacuum – Ok, I’m seriously afraid of the possibilities with this one. It took me how long to get a certain little someone to go to sleep? What if it’s too loud? What if it wakes him up? What if… Alright, I’m officially crossing this off my list. Definitely not worth taking the chance…  Excuses. Excuses.

I assure you, there’s no end in sight. The list of things I should be doing while the baby sleeps could go on indefinitely. You know what they say, “A woman’s work is never done.”

Do you procrastinate? Do you wait until you absolutely can’t wait any longer to do whatever it is that you need to do? Leave a comment and share your take on what you should be doing versus what you prefer to be doing during that much-anticipated nap.
